Scotland

From England, we took a few days to drive to Edinburgh, Scotland. It's been so long (October 2013 to July 2014 at present) since we took this trip, but here is a walk down the streets of Edinburgh and my best attempt to caption them.

Palace of the Holyrood House...

We walked the Royal Mile from the palace to the old town...

In front of St. Giles Cathedral
Edinburgh Castle....

Inside Edinburgh Castle grounds.

View of the Scott Monument from the Princes Street Gardens...

Bag pipes and kilt

On Day 2, we tackled the National Museum of Scotland...

And drove into Holyrood Park for an attempted hike to Arthur's Seat...

Matt and the kids in front of Dunsapie Loch.

As far as we made it.
Salisbury Crags on the drive down from Holyrood Park.
We really enjoyed our time in Edinburgh. Beautiful scenery, unique architecture and stone work, and a castle with canons. Plus, it's really nice to travel to an English speaking country for a change. I doubt we'll be back, but it sure was nice to experience a taste of Scotland.

England

A photo journal of our trip to England, just a few months late...

Stonehenge

Hadrian's Wall

Our Sunday lunch at a random restaurant along the road...

And sadly, I am not 100 percent sure where these photos were taken without spending too much time digging through old travel documents. This is what happens when we wait 9 months to write a blog post about a trip. I'm thinking Dryburgh Abbey or Melrose Abbey, so let's play a game. If you've ever live in England, name that abbey...

Harrogate

Betty's Tea Room...

Valley Gardens...

Knarsborough bridge...

 Day trip to Fountains Abbey...

Cheltenham

And a Royal Mailbox at one of the many random rest areas we stopped at during our journey.

It was great to visit friends and see a variety of beautiful cities in this region of England!
